French Professor Talks on Grid Applications

By Susan Pancho-Festin

Dr. Johan Montagnat from the French National Center for Scientific Research delivered a lecture on Production Grid Infrastructures for Biomedical Applications at the Beta Epsilon Audio Visual Room, Melchor Hall last August 17, 2006. Dr. Montagnat is part of the Rainbow Team of the I3S Laboratory and is working on medical image analysis applications utilizing the grid infrastructure.

As part of his talk, he gave an overview of grid infrastructures and focused on the European Enabling Grids for E-science (EGEE) project. EGEE is one of the most extensive grid deployments worldwide, involving more than 180 computing centers and utilized 24/7 by more than 1000 users. A demonstration of the setup can be accessed via the Gilda Grid demonstrator at https://gilda.ct.infn.it/.

Dr. Montagnat visited UP Diliman together with Dr. Diane Lingrand, as part of the IMAMIS project.
