The National Engineering Center offers specialized short-term engineering courses intended for engineers, technicians and other technical people in allied professions. The courses are designed to meet the needs of both government and industry for the training of professionals in both the technical and management aspects of their work.
Training Approaches
Training methods applied in the conduct of courses include lectures, tutorials and seminar/workshops. However, other methods may be adopted which will make learning more interesting and effective.
The training approach will particularly depend on the lecturer-trainor and on the specific topic to be taken up. Courses may, therefore, include demonstrations, case studies, field visits and practical work or hands-on training on machine, equipment and instruments, whenever appropriate.
Resource Persons
Resource persons come from the faculty of the U.P. College of Engineering, most of whom were involved in the development of the courses. Professionals from industry, consultancy firms and research institutions who are known experts in their respective fields are also invited to handle some specialized courses. Foreign technical consultants also conduct some courses from time to time, whenever available.
Training Facilities
The National Engineering Center Building has three (3) fully air conditioned rooms where the CEES courses are conducted: an audio-visual room with a seating capacity of 100 persons and two seminar rooms that can accommodate up to 50 participants each.
In-House Training Courses
Companies with specific training needs can request for the conduct of in-house courses in their respective offices, plants and factories.
Certificates
Certificates of Completion will be awarded to participants who have completed all the requirements of the course.
Engineering Enhancement Program
The Engineering Enhancement Program (EEP) is a comprehensive program that aims to reach out to engineering graduates of various engineering schools to help them prepare for a career in the engineering profession and hurdle the professional licensure examination.
The program involves the faculty of UP-COE as lecturers with course materials prepared by the faculty themselves. There are at least 200 lecture hours and at least 90 hours of tutorial sessions. Participants are also given series of tests for assessment.
A certificate of training will be issued by UP NEC at the end of the program, to participants who have successfully completed the enhancement program.
