UPAE Homecoming To Be Held on June 13, 2008

The UP Alumni Engineers is busy preparing for the Alumni Homecoming to be held on June 13, 2008 at the grounds of Melchor Hall. With the theme “Super Galengg Mo”, it will be designed with a fiesta atmosphere and aims to attract the most number of attendees. Starting at eleven in the morning, the Departments of the College will open its doors to welcome its past, present and future students. In the afternoon, the festivities for the Alumni Homecoming will commence with a parade around the academic oval. Registration for the Homecoming Dinner and Program starts at 6:00 PM. Fun games, special prizes and lots of surprises are in store for the attendees.

The Second Raffle Draw, which aims to raise funds to support Professorial Chairs will also be held during the Homecoming. Tickets priced at P1000 (or 25 USD) are available at the UPAE office. Tickets bought last year are still entitled to win.

This year’s celebration is organized by the Homecoming Committee headed by Mandy Agregado, together with the Silver Jubilarians (Class of 1983) led by Eric Nera. This is to call on all alumni of the UP College of Engineering. Attend the Homecoming and be part of the special occasion as we celebrate the University of the Philippines’ Centennial year.

The detailed schedule of the day’s festivities is as follows:

11:00am-4:00pm     -     Departmental Open House and Socials. Ikot jeepneys will shuttle alumni from Melchor Hall to the new Engineering Buildings, (Computer Science and COE Library and the 3E Building)

2:00-4:00pm     -     Every hour, parlor games at the Melchor Hall lobby. UP Vanguard Marching Band plays at the lobby

3:45-4:00pm     -     Assembly of students, alumni, college staff at the Engineering Lobby in preparation for the parade.

4:30 to 5:30pm     -     Parade of students, alumni and college staff in two groups of opposite directions meeting at the Palma Hall parking lot where as a single contingent , they will walk the Beta Way toward Melchor Hall.

5:30-6:00pm     -     A short program to kick off the celebrations of the College of Engineering Centennial Year in 2010

6:00pm     -     Centennial Countdown clock is set

6:00-6:30pm     -     Registration and cocktails for the UPAE Grand Alumni Homecoming at the Melchor Hall Front Lawn

6:30-10:00pm     -     UPAE sUPer galENG mo! Alumni Homecoming
